West coast official

Yesterday provided another absolutely beautiful drive as we left Utah and cruised through the Nevada desert and into California. We began the drive going through the Great Salt Lake Desert (magnificent), which is noted for white sand and salt deposits.

As we entered Nevada, we drove through more 'typical' desert scenes.
Once we hit Reno, we stopped at a restaurant called 'Dish' for lunch, as recommended by the Food Network. I started with my desert first:
[ Chocolate cupcake with cream cheese frosting and coconut (almond joy, much?), accompanied by refreshing green tea ]
Soon after lunch, we crossed over to California!

Here, we experienced another gorgeous change of scenery:
When we saw signs for Tahoe, we knew we had to check it out; just for a little bit.

We finally reached our final destination for the day: Fremont, which is right outside of San Francisco. We are staying with The Chadwell's, my seafaring friend Amanda's family. We all agreed how nice it was to have a delicious home cooked meal...and to play with a dog.

We have been very much looking forward to spending the entire day exploring San Francisco today...Golden Gate, here we come!

  1. Hi Guys! I posted a comment before but it didn't show up. I am so jealous. The trip seems like it's going great. The photos are beautiful. I guess that red car can handle all of you afterall. Can't believe Arches is Dave's first National Park. Those parks are national treasures. Keep driving safely and keep having fun. Love, Anut
