Ducks, beans, and sizzling under skyscrapers

It was a rather hot day in Chi-town yesterday as I roamed the city with another seafaring friend of mine, Amanda. I have been to this Windy city before, so I decided to skip out on the architecture tour my brother bears started the day with. Instead, I woke up early for a run around Ashley's love neighborhood, met Amanda, and just wandered about the city hitting up the Navy Pier, Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park, and Grant Park. When we met up with Mike and Dave, we stumbled across the race of a lifetime: The Ducky Derby. We just happened to stumble upon this race in which 30,000 little yellow rubber ducks, one representing every Special Olympics Illinois athlete, were launched into the Chicago River off the Columbus Drive Bridge to race along the river---aided by Fire Department and Marine Patrol powered water sprays to the finish line at the Michigan Avenue Bridge. There was quite the crowd there getting all quaked up about this event; I was a fan.

Not being one for skyscrapers, I tend to gravitate toward the colorful things within a city. Here in Chi-town, I found some bright, bursting-with-color sculptures that I really enjoyed taking note of; here are a few of my favorites:
[ "You Can't Keep A Down Man Good"]
[ "Fisticuffs" ]
[ "Under the Milky Way" ]
[ "Finish" ]
[ "Safety Star"]
Perhaps the most infamous remains in Millennium Park, the Bean:

Despite the extreme heat conditions leaving us in puddles of sweat, it was a wonderful time spent in the city. By the end of the day, Chicago had me jumping with joy:

Well, it's time to hit the road again; Kansas City here we come!
